Thickbox Instead of Greybox
In an effort to streamline the site and kept my horizons open to new things, I have switched from Greybox to Thickbox to handle the overlay display of external pages. For those of you brave enough to wander through the twist and turns of my site, you have discovered that the icons and images on my site are more than eye candy. They are navigation tools to other areas of our site.
An example of the Gteybox or Thickbox implemenration is when you click on the Contact Us icon, represented by the letter and envelope. When click on that icon, a new “window” is overlaid on the main page and displays the contact form for leaving us a message. This new “window” overlay is Greybox or Thickbox.
But why change from Greybox to Thickbox? Other than some cosmetic differences, what is the difference?
Thickbox is based upon the lightweight Javascript library, JQuery. Greybox relied on several Javascript libraries, breaking the adage that smaller is a faster and better solution.
I utilize this user interface to access outside resources without having the feeling that you have completely leftour site.
