When I first started blogging, it was to help keep friends and family informed about the happenings in our lives, Jill and me, with anecdotes about Koda, our Akita. Happenings were initially related and published in a series of fly-fishing journal entries. I received my first taste of fly-fishing during the 1999 spring run of steelhead on the Milwaukee River. Since then, I have been hooked and have been dragging Jill and Koda along with me all over Wisconsin and now Washington State and Oregon.
When writing about life, it helps to have a magnifying glass to help focus the attention and bring structure to life’s chaotic nature. However, as I had expected and hoped for, those series of fly-fishing journal entries evolved, branching off to all different aspects of our lives.
On May 14, 2005, our small world of Jill, Koda and me grew a wee bit and changed dramatically. We have an addition, who will be referred to for now as Baby Callies. McKenzie Katherine Callies was born on December 30, 2005.
